The Athletes' Centre with sport and cultural functions, was opened in 1933. It is an excellent example of the region's architecture between the two World Wars. At present, it hosts the Children's Theatre, and temporarily the Jadran Stage of the Subotica National Theatre.

The first performances by travelling companies were held in Subotica as early as 1747. This classic style building, characterized by its six Corinthian columns, was built more than 150 years ago. Reconstruction works on the theatre building has started in the summer of 2007.
